Oral hygiene with a microscope
Oral hygiene with a microscope is still something a little out of the ordinary. If you have not yet experienced this type of prophylaxis, you may wonder why we use a microscope for oral hygiene. Isn’t a microscope far too much effort for a comparably simple medical treatment?
Everything is visible under a microscope
In our surgery, the prophylaxis assistant always uses a microscope and its built-in camera to examine your mouth with precision. As a patient, you can – if you so desire – put on a pair of Zeiss Cinemizer glasses and see live where plaque or tartar is present in your mouth and is being removed.
This will show you how well your gums and teeth are cleaned, where your weak points are in terms of plaque and how you can modify your current brushing technique with a toothbrush, dental floss or interdental brushes. The personalized cleaning plan provides specific guidance on how to effectively clean the currently inflamed areas moving forward. You’ll see: In just 14 days, the inflammation will be completely gone.
Microscope Oral Hygiene: the world’s most thorough tooth cleaning
After the plaque dye check, you can choose to either watch the meticulous tooth cleaning as it’s taking place under the microscope or relax with music or a film.
During oral hygiene with a microscope, both plaque and tartar are removed down to the last detail. In comparison, a conventional oral hygiene session can leave up to 40% of tartar in hard-to-reach areas, creating an ideal breeding ground for harmful bacteria. Without a microscope, it’s impossible to detect plaque or tartar hidden beneath the gums in your saliva-filled interdental spaces. The tooth is not only magnified twenty times but also illuminated with bright light. The tooth is not only magnified twenty times but also illuminated with bright light.
Magnification, light, and dryness are key to effective oral hygiene
The doctors at this surgery have been personally performing oral hygiene treatments for years. We have observed that tartar turns whitish and becomes clearly visible when it dries. To address this, DDr. Klaus Kotschy has developed the ‘Dento Air Plus,’ an advanced device that blows air directly onto the tooth or tartar. The combination of a microscope, bright light, and dryness reveals even the tiniest deposits, allowing for their precise removal. Harmful bacteria don’t stand a chance—ensuring the foundation for your optimal dental health.
